In this video you will learn about an application and how to set up a store on facebook.

I’ve seen quite a few store front applications pop up for Facebook and I have been wanting to try one for a while. One such application is called Payvment. This application allows you quickly and easily create a storefront on a facebook page.

How Much Does it Cost?

Currently to set up a storefront the cost is zero, yes free. As of now they dont charge anything or take any cut of your sales. In reading the FAQ on their website it seems they are more concerned with making great technology and getting feedback to do that.
How Do I Set Up a Store?

I was amazed at how easy it was to set up a store. Like I said we had our up and running within 15 minutes. 1. You must have a paypal account, both personal and business is work.
2. Create an account on their website here
3. To set up the store just go the application page here and follow the directions outlined.

Some features this store has: * You can create multiple categories of products * Option sets (such as different sizes, colors) * Tracking of sales * Ability to feature a product on the main page

One of the challenges I hear often is how do I keep up with technology and new media when it is moving so fast? Just yesterday it was all about Myspace, then YouTube, then Facebook, then Twitter…

A secret I use to keep focused on the technology that I should follow comes down to always asking myself one question:

Does it Solve a Basic Need?
Think about most of the technologies that are successful, the cellphone and social networks are great examples. They solve the basic human need for communication. Our needs to be more connected and group ourselves. I bet you could take someone from ancient Rome and give them a cell phone, and once explained they would love it.

Does This Pass The Check?

I believe the technology I mentioned above passes the check. It solves the basic need of saving time and getting what we really want. Also I believe that if you used this type of service once you would be more likely to use it again and again. Take Ebay, this is another service that once you experienced you most likely came back for more. It solves the basic need of a trust of commerce between two individuals.

This is the key to keeping up with technology. * First, bring the technology down to it’s core use, make it as simple as possible. (example above, search local retailers for stuff I want right now) * Second, does it solve a basic need? Yes, I hate wasting time and would like to know how I can get my stuff now.

Now the next phase might be to deliver my stuff now, but that technology has not been developed quite yet.

Are you doing stuff today based on assumptions?

We make many decisions based on our own assumptions. If your like most people your daily actions are driven by these assumptions.

Now more than ever it is important to continually question your assumptions.

Are You Testing Yourself?
Assumptions are not bad but they do need to be kept in check. Many of the breakthroughs in science and business came from testing what everybody assumed. It was assumed that there were only 109 Elements in the Period Table… since 1994, six new elements have been discovered.

Common Business Assumptions
Everyone will love my product/service as much as I do.
A good product/service will sell itself. …or… If I build it, they will come and buy it.
In this business, I must purchase (build, own, have rent, show, etc.) _____________.
My competitors have ______________; therefore I must also.
My customers expect me to have __________.

Operating daily on false realities without the benefit of reality testing is a recipe for failure.

You can’t go anywhere online without seeing someone mention that you should be engaging social media. I’ve noticed something though. It seems for every glowing success story in social media I can point to 7 or 8 examples what I would consider failures.
Everybody is assuming that social media will make a difference in their business. They are assuming that if they get in twitter, facebook, and youtube that this will drive sales. Is this really true?
That is one of the problems with social media. People and companies dive in assuming that their prospects or customers want to connect with them in social space. Many times they find that’s not what people want.

How to test assumptions:
What has worked?
Numbers or proof?
Challenge assumptions often
Bring it to the end
