INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – People living in a Broad Ripple neighborhood hope people can identify a vandal who left behind damage and a threatening note.

The victim put up a free library several years ago. It’s been vandalized before, but this time the suspect opened the doors on the free library and took out all of the books – and that’s not all.

“It’s a free library, anybody can come,” said Jose Espada. Espada believes reading is fundamental and wants to share the opportunity to do so with everyone in his neighborhood.

So about five years ago, he built a custom bookstand in his front yard and it’s been big hit. “We got a lot of good response from neighbors saying they appreciate us having the book library,” said Espada.

But a vandal has taken aim at Jose’s bookstand. His wife shared photos with Eyewitness News showing how they found their bookstand one day. Read more from wthr.com…
