A local company has snagged an Emmy nomination for their work in virtual reality. Other Ocean Interactive received the nomination this week for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media with a Scripted Program for their game Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, based on the popular cartoon.
Past winners of the award, which is about taking a traditional tv show beyond the passive viewing experience, include games and apps based on Westworld, The Simpsons and Stranger Things. Rick and Morty was a co-development between teams in Newfoundland and PEI.
Other Ocean’s Head of Operations Deirdre Ayre tweeted out that she was a bit shell shocked by the nomination. The Emmy’s will be awarded in September. Read more from vocm.com…
