Sorry, this content isn’t available on your device. A new research project in Truro is using Virtual Reality to see if bringing the great outdoors to those stuck indoors can help aid recovery.

In one of the first studies of its kind, researchers at the University of Exeter are using technology to recreate the experience of the natural world. Project leader PhD researcher Nicola Yeo says those living in a care home or in hospital can often find it hard to get outside on a regular basis.

More volunteers are now needed for the study in order to allow researchers to examine the health effects of ‘virtual nature’. Participants will view scenes through a virtual reality headset which include swimming alongside a blue whale or walking along a pristine beach.

They will then be asked to complete a survey, memory test and short informal interview about their experience. Read more from…
